WHEN: Thursday 12th June 2-5pm AND Thursday 19th June 2-5pm
Come and discover collagraph printmaking in a beautiful studio in Lewes. This fascinating technique is taught over two 3hr sessions. In session 1 we will design and prepare low relief collagraph plates using mountboard, carborundum, PVA, and varnish. In session two we will print our plates and you will be shown how to use a Rollaco etching press and experiment with atmospheric inking effects.
These workshops are suitable for complete beginners and for those with some experience who wish to hone their skills.
Group sizes are small so that you get as much (or as little) support as you need, and all materials are provided.
All materials will be provided, including all paper, non-toxic AKUA soy based printmaking inks, collagraph materials, varnish, Rollaco etching press, gloves, blotting paper, and tea/coffee/biscuits.
Visual resources are provided for every class including printmaking examples, reference images, and some of my favourite books, although there is no ‘theme’ as such so you are welcome to explore whatever subject you choose.
You are welcome to bring materials to enrich and personalise your work: this might include books/magazines, photographs, sketches, or other images you like.
I recommend that you bring an apron or old shirt to protect your clothes.
The studio is located at the top of the stairs on the right - there is a stair lift available if required. If you have any accessibility requests please let me know in advance. The studio is well ventilated before and after every session and there will be disposable gloves and hand sanitisier. There are 5 car parking spaces outside the studio that are free and for everyone’s use, on a first come first served basis. Please note however that the access road is narrow and one way, so if you have a large vehicle you may find it easier to find alternative parking. There is on street parking nearby, or Westgate car park. The train station is 15 minutes walk away, and the nearest bus stop is 5 minutes away on Lewes high street.

If you are unable to attend an individual class due to illness or any unforeseen circumstances then please let me know via email as soon as possible. If viable, I will offer you an alternative date for the same or a similar class later in the year. In the unlikely event that I have to cancel, you will receive a full refund.
