Experimental Monoprinting One Day Course: Saturday 12th July
Curious about printmaking, or wish to refresh your skills? Come and explore the possibilities of monoprinting in a beautiful large studio located in the centre of historic Lewes. No experience needed, small groups, and all materials provided.
SPECIAL SUMMER TERM DISCOUNTED PRICE OF JUST £60
You will be introduced to experimental monoprinting processes using a variety of mark making tools, AKUA non toxic inks, and blending medium. You will have the opportunity to incorporate natural foliage, recycled materials, and hand cut stencils to add depth and texture to your unique prints.
You will be shown how to produce prints by hand and how to use a Rollaco etching press.
WHERE: Paddock Art Studio, Paddock Lane, Lewes, BN7 1TW
WHEN: Saturday 12th July
- AM session 10 - 1pm
- Lunch break 45 mins (bring your own lunch to enjoy in the studio or garden, or pop out to nearby cafes)
- PM session 1.45 - 4pm.
All materials and equipment are included: mark making tools, recycled materials and foliage, mono-print plates, papers to print on, blotting paper, Rollaco etching press, AKUA non-toxic professional printing inks, AKUA blending medium, materials for stencils, gloves, tea/coffee/biscuits/fruit.
There is no theme as such, so you are welcome to bring materials to personalise your work - this might be a sketch, a printed image, or some low textured materials (e.g. textured paper, foliage).
I recommend that you bring an apron or old shirt to protect your clothes. Please also bring your own lunch to enjoy in the studio or garden, weather permitting!
The studio is located at the top of the stairs on the right - there is a stair lift available if required. If you have any accessibility requests please let me know in advance. The studio is well ventilated before and after every session and there will be disposable gloves and hand sanitisier. There are 5 car parking spaces outside the studio that are free and for everyone’s use, on a first come first served basis. Please note however that the access road is narrow and one way, so if you have a large vehicle you may find it easier to find alternative parking. County Hall car park (5 mins away) is £1.50 on Saturdays and free on Sundays. The train station is 15 minutes walk away, and the nearest bus stop is 5 minutes away on Lewes high street.
I will be in touch via email a couple of days before the course starts just to confirm details. If you have any questions or would like to see additional examples of the type of work you could produce then please get in touch by emailing mayeverett@gmail.com as I am always happy to advise.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
If you are unable to attend due to illness or any unforeseen circumstances then please let me know via email as soon as possible. If viable, I will offer you an alternative date for the same or a similar class later in the year. If a suitable alternative cannot be agreed then you also have the option for a refund minus 20% of the full cost as this contribution goes towards my studio hire and material costs, which will already have been purchased. In the unlikely event that I have to cancel, you will receive a full refund.
